Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I handle a variety of family law cases, divorce, cases where children were born out of wedlock, custody, child support, parenting plans, division of marital assets, guardianships.

I represent landlords and tenants alike. I handle a variety of housing law cases, such as landlord tenant disputes, civil suits, and evictions. I will assess your case and explain the potential pitfalls and potential traps that may be awaiting you. I can help walk you through the complicated court pleadings and hearings.

According to Mass.gov

You can use LAR at any stage of your non-criminal case. For example, you can use LAR to help you file a case in court, or you can use LAR with any parts of a case that is already filed in court.

Certified LAR lawyers may:

  • Advise you if LAR is right for you.
  • Explain what parts of the case you may be able to do by yourself and      which parts would be better for a lawyer to handle.
  • Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your case and figure out      the steps you should take.
  • Review legal documents, explain them to you and advise you how to      respond.
  • Coach you on how to represent yourself in court.
  • Represent you at a negotiation, mediation, hearing or trial.
  • Help you put evidence together.
  • Do legal research and explain it to you.
  • Prepare      court documents for you to file yourself — for example, complaints,      answers, discovery and motions. This is sometimes called      ghostwriting.

My fees for legal services depend on the type of fee agreement we sign, and the complexity of your case. However, I understand that this doesn't specifically answer your question, so I have provided some basic information to help you. My hourly billable rate is $275.00 per hour, charged in 6 minute increments. To retain me as your lawyer, I typically require a retainer fee  of $5,000 for Family Court cases, and for Housing Court cases, $3,500. I'm willing to make exceptions under certain circumstances. I am also certified to represent you in a "limited assistance representation" capacity, whereas I can represent you for any of the issues related to your case on a flat fee basis, or an hourly fee.

I always offer an initial consultation to discuss your needs, and we can further discuss your options at that time. Due to the nature of the time required to conduct these consultations, I do charge a consultation fee of $275 for one hour, or $137.50 per half hour. Other than an LAR representation, if you decide to hire me then I will give you a credit  for the funds spent for the consultation. So, if you decide to hire me to represent you, then the consultation would be at no cost to you. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
